Uchisar Rock Castle
Uchisar is situated at the highest point in Cappadocia, on the Nevsehir-Göreme road, just 5 km from Göreme. The top of the Uchisar Castle, provides a magnificent panorama of the surrounding area with Mount Erciyes in the distance.
Many rock cut churches have been discovered not only on the outskirts of the castle but also inside it. The reason for this may be that Göreme, having numerous churches and monasteries, is very close to Uchisar.
Uchisar Castle is the only place where Erciyes and Hasan Mountain can be seen together. The place where the creator of Erciyes Mountain, in other words the Cappadocia Region, is best seen is the Uchisar Castle. Since the Roman period, many rooms, houses, shelters, warehouses, cisterns, tombs, cellars were carved into it, and it has been an important defense point against external attacks.
