“The Land of Civilizations”
Adiyaman is one of Anatolia’s oldest centres of settlement in the Turkey. Apart from relics found dating back to pre-historic ages, there is the Nemrut Mountain which dates back to the Commagene Civilization and is called the 8th wonder of the world. It is listed on UNESCO’s Cultural Heritage for Mankind. The Nemrut Mountain has around 150 historically significant cultural assets spread out around the ruin grounds and the province in general. As a city of many civilizations, the Adiyaman Museum has about 16,000 historical artifacts on display.
