How it is Performed

First, patient’s head will be shaved to 1-2 mm in order to provide the surgeon with a good view of the area. The new hairline is drawn in order to define the area where the collected hair follicles will be placed. Local anaesthesia is administered before the hair follicles are extracted by the use of a micro-motor equipped with a 0.6-0.9 mm special punch. The hair follicles are then grouped into grafts – each graft consists of 2-4 hair follicles. Tiny hair canals are then created into the receiving area, while keeping in mind the growth direction that best fits the patient’s look. The grafts are then implanted into the tiny canals and the head is wrapped in bandages as to prevent potential infection. The procedure itself lasts anywhere between 4 to 8 hours and the patient will have to visit the clinic in two separate days, once for the procedure and another day for a post-operatory checkup.

Recommended For

Patients suffering from traumatic alopecia, male pattern baldness, receding hairlines, traction alopecia, and general alopecia can benefit from a hair transplant procedure.

Recovery

The patient may return to work the next day after surgery. Full hair growth will be visible, depending on the patient, in 4 to 12 months. The patient will have no visible scars after the surgery, only light scabs in the donor area which will pass in around a week after surgery. During the recovery period, the patient may experience swelling of the scalp and forehead and itching but it’s important to refrain from touching your head too much during this period.
