How it is Performed

Through the FUE method, the hair roots are gently extracted one by one and then carefully transplanted to the areas that lack hair growth. Before the follicular unit extraction procedure can begin, the donor area is trimmed to around 1 mm in length. Local anaesthesia is then applied to both the area of transplantation and extraction. The micro motor tip is applied in such a way as to centre the hair root according to the original development angle of the hair. The hair follicles are then cut in a cylinder, and separated from the surrounding tissue. A micro forceps is used to pull the follicular unit. Istanbul Hair Center, this technique, combined with the automatic system reduces the graft waste to a minimum and increases the number of retrieved grafts. The follicular units are then planted into small holes on the scalp skin and each follicular unit is made up out of 2-3 follicles.

Before You Leave

After you decide to have the hair implant surgery, you should inform the clinic about your travel at least 10 days before you arrive in Turkey. You will be required to send pictures from the top of the head, back (this is the donor area) and photos from the front in order to determine the number of needed hair grafts and analyse your hair loss – your appointment with the plastic surgeon will then be set.

Recovery

By the end of the first month of the recovery period, most of the transplanted hair will be lost, but don’t worry – in around 3 months new hair will grow naturally. The hair itself becomes visible after the sixth month. In around 1 to 1,5 years the transplant region will reach full hair growth capacity. The donor area will still have hair growth since this region has healthy hair follicles to begin with. The characteristics and colour of the implanted hair will be exactly the same.
